“The medical adhesive used with disposable eye protection is meant to hold the product in place. Since the product cannot have the adhesive ‘cleaned’ after use, it is only authorized to be used once,” says DeWald. “You don’t want dirt, makeup and oils from your face around your eyes time and time again,” she continued. “We take caring for tanners’ eyes very seriously and work with salons to make sure their guests are protected from UV rays, but explaining the FDA position on disposable eye protection as a Class One Medical Product is equally important for salons and tanners alike,” she concluded.
